CAVE OF THE FICARELLA

CAVE OF THE FICARELLA

Of particular interest is the Grotta della Ficarella, located right at the Zingaro Nature Reserve. Once immersed, visitors will find the entrance at a depth of about 14 metres and from this it can be deduced that it is not very demanding in terms of the skills required. Once at the entrance to the cave, one comes across a large tunnel that one must walk through in its entirety and inside which one can come across 'corvinas'. The tunnel ends after about ten metres, and it is here that sea lovers will find themselves in front of a splendid and surreal landscape filled with stalactites that populate the entire environment of the cave. An element that makes visiting this cave even more interesting, apart from its beauty, is that about halfway through the tunnel, the initially salty water inexplicably becomes fresh and at the end of the tunnel, visitors can re-emerge right inside the cave and even breathe and touch the seabed with their feet.
